Well the first day of this years NaNoWriMo is behind me (or will be in another few minutes) so I’ve just got time for a little report. Things didn’t go quite as well as I would have liked, but to be honest better than anyone has any reason to expect.

The one thing I’m really unhappy about is how long my plot took to settle down. But even that seems to be firming up now. Although I’m going to have to do something about getting some more bad guys in there tomorrow. Right now they’re in the background too much, and that’s not the way to get a good conflict going.

On the wordcount front I can’t complain, not only did I get the wordcount I wanted to get as a minimum today, I also got a pretty looking wordcount: 10,101. Since my goal for today was at least 10k, this seemed as good a place as any to stop.

I want to get the same again tomorrow if at all possible, though if I want to do that I’ll have to make sure I don’t let myself get distracted as easily or as often as I did today. Still that’s for tomorrow, right now I’m about ready to go to sleep.

Way to go, Jarsto! More than 10k of words, amazing! If you go on like this, you’ll have mastered your next Nano by Tuesday! Good luck with the bad guys today and good writing!

I probably won’t be able to keep up this pace once the work week starts again, so finishing in under a week probably isn’t on the cards – though with next friday off I might just be able to make a push for it.
