Well it was what I told myself I had to do to earn the pizza I’d already eaten, and I got there in the end: 5k for the day, for 95k in total. Or rather, because I like pretty wordcounts, 5,050 for the day, for a total of 95,059. It took a final sprint not much less insane than yesterday’s (1200 in 25 minutes) but I made it again.
Not only does that mean I’m still carrying the margin I built up over the weekend on my 5k per day average goal, it also means I’m now within 5k of adding another digit to my wordcount. It’ll take another little push tomorrow, but given the last few days I’m pretty sure I can make it. Of course there will be other stuff to do, including this work which apparently is what pays my bills, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to use all the time I can to push for the wordcount until I get there.
Sheesh, I am insanely thankful for this ‘work-thing’ that annoys you so much and keeps you from completely racing off with your count. Once more, 9K for me today. I just wonder: if I would sit down earnestly from ten till midnight, how much could I do then? I so most words between 8pm and midnight. If I could just keep that coming, I could probably do a 15K or 16K day.
I need to improve my vocabulary, especially on adjectives, so I can write nice, flowery descriptions
20:00 to 23:59 is my main writing time as well. My 5k yesterday was almost entirely between 20:30 and 23:59 for example. I have tried longer days in the past, but if I try for more than 8 or 9 hours on a single day even my inspiration tends to run dry, and strangely my pace during those 8 hours seems to have very little to do with that.
I’m not fuller after 8 hours where I’ve barely scraped together 1000 words per hour, than I am after 8 hours where I’ve consistently hit 1500 or better. Or to put it another way, 8 hours of flying doesn’t empty me any better than 8 hours of walking.
Maybe I should see if I can tempt my muse into working longer hours by paying overtime
How do you plan to bribe your muse? More pizza?
Actually my muse is more into sweets than into pizza. So anything with chocolate is generally pretty good. The real trick is keeping my muse from ruining any plans I have to lose weight and keep healthy teeth. But so far even that balancing act seem to be going pretty well this year.
*lol* I have restocked yesterday on the chocolate, I just had this really bad craving around 10pm the last nights. And I go crazy if I need chocolate and there is none. Unfortunately, right after I eat chocolate I crave salty stuff. So, in order to find some time to write between all the eating, I think about mixing the two together. I am actually contemplating getting gherkins and chocolate creme and preparing little sweet-salty snacks. ‘xcuse me, need to write that on my shopping list.
Oh, and the answer to the inevitable question is ‘No’
