My characters are gearing up for battle, and in a way I feel like I am to. I’ve just cut my nails again, about as short as I can stand them, to help with typing for the next few days. And I’m busy figuring out what I’m going to need the next few days. In short I’m laying in supplies to see me through.

Not for a real battle in my case, but for the final part of the month long wordwar that is NaNoWriMo. So while my characters are worrying about intelligence data and ammunition, I’m worrying about my supply of candles and tea-lights. About the only thing we’re both worried about is getting the food supply sorted out.

I made a battle plan for tomorrow as well … I need tea, snacks to just pop in the mouth, and cat litter to keep the little devil happy. Should be done in about twenty minutes. Too bad one cannot eliminate the need for food for two days. It would make writing that much easier.

I actually like to have some things, like food, pull me away from the computer occasionally on a big writing day. Not only does it serve to help prevent RSI, it also gives my mind some time to work out things in the background while I’m doing something else. I generally find I write faster when I return from a meal break than I do before I leave for it.

On the supply front I think I may well end up making a quick shopping trip in the morning to get a few more things. Mornings aren’t prime writing time for me anyway, so I can sacrifice that part of the day relatively easily, provided that I can get myself to get up…
